Adopting a friend

We have pets in foster care that are in need of forever loving homes. 99% of the dogs listed on our site originate from high kill shelters, mainly from Ohio and Alabama. The dogs are out of the shelter and quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks before they can be adopted and transported. If we have the space the dogs are placed into foster care here in New Hampshire; otherwise they are in foster care in other locations.

Their stay in foster care allows us to do a much more accurate evaluation of their temperament, for our aim is to match you with the best possible compatible companion. Many fellow rescue friends and organizations work so hard together getting these abandoned animals the best possible forever homes. We are grateful to so many of you!!!!!

Steps in the adoption process

Please read the information below and then complete our adoption application.

Since there are not enough foster homes to hold the numbers of dogs and puppies in need, many of the dogs are still being fostered in Alabama and Ohio (the two main rescues we work with are in these locations). Our sister rescues located in these areas are overwhelmed with the numbers of abandoned and surrendered dogs/pups. Thus we post the dogs while some may still be waiting to get into their foster homes here in New England. We are giving the pups/dogs exposure in New England in hopes of getting them preadopted. Preadoption means, people have the option of adopting the dog of their choice prior to the dog being transported to New England. We run our own transport company and our transports run every other weekend and occasionally every weekend.

The dogs can be tested with children, cats, other dogs and/or whatever is requested by the potential adopter. These requests are usually made with the adult dogs.

Once your application is approved we like you to speak with the foster family (it is requested that you do so) and they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the dogs temperament, size, etc. It is important to make sure the dog you are interested in is a good match for your family and lifestyle. The transports run every other weekend and adopters pick up their dog/pup at the designated area. Our New England stops are in Connecticut and New Hampshire.

Thank you so much for thinking rescue. Whether through Petfinder or a local shelter, you are helping us to save these dogs.
